The Beginning

With the beginning of this new year, I've found that I'm making the same resolution that I did last year, and that was to create more. I didn't do a very good job of that in 2012, but seeing as how the world is not yet concluded after the 21st of December, it appears as though I still have some time left to pin down the cloud that seems to constantly chase its way through my imagination.

This cloud of which I speak has so much grand potential that to keep it to the realm of "idea" would be a serious act of neglect on my part. I spend a lot of my time there, and it's such a wonderful place that describing it, and portraying it and introducing everyone to it and what IT is will probably take most of my life.

But this is where it begins, in the year that was not supposed to exist. I think that's rather poetic, don't you?

PANTO

That's the name of this cloud-like place which keeps me occupied most of the time. Panto is short for pantomime, of course, and that's the only way to achieve the festivals of color, theme and tradition which I boldly envision everyday.

PANTOMIME
Noun
A dramatic entertainment, originating in Roman mime, in which performers express meaning through gestures accompanied by music.
I would say that this is fairly close. Quite accurate, in fact. But there's so much more to it. If that bit of text described Panto completely then all my work would be done and I wouldn't have to write this blog or create any art at all.  All I would have to do is walk around with that definition printed on a t-shirt and everyone would be like "oh dude, i love your shirt. Totally know what you mean. I feel exactly the same way almost everyday. Our brains are definitely puffing the same galaxy smoke."

Here's my first work in what I hope to be a long column of works. I was trying to replicate the beautiful vision that artist Daniela Glunz brought down to earth in the gallery below:

I just think it's so intensely wonderful. Breathtaking.

I had a day off from work and tried to do my own interpretation.

I am quite pleased with it, although I hope it doesn't look like I'm crying, as that wasn't what I was trying to portray. I was just looking to create some vertical lines of color using some cool colors with whites and grays. Accidental creation isn't a shame, though.

Anyways, that's all I really have time for right now. I have to get off to work.
